Fall Events

Fall just might be our real estate agents' favorite time of year in West Virginia. Not only does it offer crisp weather, changing foliage, and an abundance of local produce, but it's also when some of the year's best festivals and events take place. Be sure to check out these fall happenings in Pocahontas County!

  • A. R. Gurney's The Cocktail Hour - 818 3rd Ave, Marlinton, WV 24954
The Pocahontas County Opera House is a major hub for arts and culture in Marlinton, and they host numerous concerts, plays, and other events throughout the year. On September 15th and 16th, the Opera House's resident drama workshop returns after a two-year hiatus with a production of A. R. Gurney's The Cocktail Hour. This is a great opportunity to experience local theater near these Pocahontas County homes for sale!

  • Autumn Harvest Festival & Roadkill Cook-Off - 200 8th St, Marlinton, WV 24954
One of West Virginia's most anticipated annual events, the Autumn Harvest Festival and Roadkill Cook-Off, returns to Marlinton on Saturday, September 23rd this year. Its tongue-in-cheek name has earned the festival coverage on the Discovery Channel and the Food Network, not to mention drawing huge crowds. But make no mistake; this is a serious cook-off! The festival also features a wide range of food and drink, arts and crafts, fun, and games for the entire family.

  • Cranberry Mountain Nature Center's Cranberry Shindig - WV-150, Hillsboro, WV 24946
The Cranberry Shindig is always a good time at the Cranberry Mountain Nature Center. This year's event takes place on September 25th and will bring some of the best artisans and crafters from Pocahontas County and across the state to one place. In addition to checking out the art, jewelry, handmade goods, and food, the Cranberry Shindig is also a great opportunity to explore the Nature Center's beautiful nature trails.

  • Full Harvest Moon Hike at Cass Scenic Railroad - 12363 Cass Rd, Cass, WV 24927
From 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on September 30th, enjoy a charming evening stroll along the former Cass Scenic Railroad with the Full Harvest Moon Hike. The hike begins at the visitor's center at the Cass Company Store within Cass Scenic Railroad State Park and follows the railroad bed for a 3-mile round-trip hike over fairly even ground. Expect lovely scenery and a beautiful hike beneath the full harvest moon!

  • Greenbrier River Trail Marathon & Half Marathon - 12363 Cass Rd, Cass, WV 24927
The annual Greenbrier River Trail Marathon & Half Marathon is back this year and offers one of the best and most beautiful races in West Virginia. The marathon portion is the only full 26.2-mile point-to-point marathon in the state. This year's marathon takes place on Sunday, October 8th, and starts at Cass Scenic Railroad State Park. From there, it takes a scenic route along the Greenbrier River Trail, a rail trail that follows its namesake river through the heart of Pocahontas County.
