Greenbrier County

Did you know that farming and agriculture produces more than $800 million for the West Virginia economy? It's a win-win when you shop at these wonderful produce markets near Greenbrier County that are recommended by our real estate agents.

  • Lewisburg Farmers Market - 499 Fairground Rd., Lewisburg, WV 17837
Immerse yourself in the history of the community around Lewisburg homes for sale. Back in 1958, the purchase of 10 acres led to the establishment of the Lewisburg Farmers Market. The site hosted the Union County Fair until 1937 when the success of weekly auctions inspired a change in plans. With banks and stores traditionally closing at noon on Wednesdays, that was determined to be the ideal day for the market, while over time it evolved to a morning market. More than 100 local vendors are represented in the indoor and outdoor spaces. Watch for special events such as craft shows, seasonal festivals, and cooking classes. The market is open 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Wednesday, year-round.

  • WSS Farmer's Market - Midland Trail Park, White Sulphur Springs, WV 24986
Find fresh fruits, vegetables, and baked goods for your dinner table right down the street from White Sulphur Springs homes for sale. Support a variety of local producers at the WSS Farmer's Market. While selling produce was the primary purpose behind the creation of the market, it's turned into a festive community gathering spot thanks to live entertainment, kids' activities, and special events. Enter their periodic raffles for the chance to win a basket full of goodies from market vendors. WSSFM is open from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. every Thursday from May through October.

  • Pocahontas County Farmers Market - Various locations
What's better than a farmers market? How about four of them? That's the premise behind Pocahontas County Farmers Market. With locations in Green Bank, Marlinton, Hillsboro, and Linwood, Pocahontas County homes for sale are never more than minutes away. PCFM was founded as an opportunity for the community to "meet, eat, share stories, recipes, and knowledge" while promoting and encouraging community farmers and artisans. In addition to fresh fruits and vegetables, shoppers can find a gift for themselves and others among the stands featuring handcrafted jewelry, pottery, and wood items. Visit their Facebook page to see the schedules for each market, along with information about live music and other events.

  • Fresh Start Market - 2070 W. Webster Rd., Summersville, WV 26651
This summer, the West Virginia Department of Agriculture put Fresh Start Market in the spotlight as one of the charter members of the department's WV Grown program. The market is full of fresh and colorful produce, from asparagus to zucchini, along with eggs, meats, and stunning flowers and plants. Other goodies include a wide assortment of baked goods and gourmet food products like homemade salsa. Of course, farming isn't restricted to the land, so Fresh Start Market also offers the bounty of the ocean. Shrimpy & Snappy's Seafood Market is on hand with fresh and frozen fish, shrimp, scallops, oysters, and crab legs. The staff has often received kudos from customers for service that goes the extra mile.
