    The Greenbrier River Trail deserves a place on any list of prime West Virginia riding destinations. Oriented generally north to south, the trail follows the banks of the Greenbrier River for 78 miles. It's mostly flat and level, with a mix of paved and gravel surfaces perfect for horseback riding, mountain biking, and hiking. The northern terminus of the trail is in Cass Scenic Railroad State Park, and the southern endpoint is in neighboring Greenbrier County. Dozens of additional trailheads provide access and parking along the way, making it easy to choose a section of any length. 

  • EJ's Lodging, Camping & Stabling - 3366 Sitlinton Rd, Dunmore, WV 24934

The trail spans 22 miles from Durbin to Grady, stretching from Pocahontas into Randolph County as it hugs the banks of the West Fork Greenbriar River. There are some splendid views as the trail makes sweeping turns through this lush river valley, with tumbling water on one side and thickly wooded mountains on the other.   • East Fork Campground - Rt 250 Main Street, Meadow Lane Drive, Durbin, WV 26264

The campground sits right at the confluence of the East and West Forks of the Greenbrier River and is a great place to do some fishing as well as riding. Multiple riding trails are accessible from the campground, including the aforementioned West Fork Trail as well as the Allegheny Trail and the Widney Park Rail Trail. 

  • Autumn Breeze Stables - Silver Creek Rd, Snowshoe, WV 26209
    Riders of all ages will have a great time at Autumn Breeze Stables, which specializes in guided trail rides in Pocahontas County. Rides range from short one-hour excursions to immersive 4-hour trail rides, which include shady woodland trails, stream crossings, lakeside rambles, and views across the valleys to the nearby Blue Ridge Mountains.
