- Sharps Cave - Slatyfork, WV 26291
Some of the most amazing sights in the Allegheny Mountains are literally below the surface. During the Civil War, local resident Silas Sharp hid underground in what is now known as Sharps Cave. The centerpiece of the cavern is an incredible clay sculpture room with dozens of figurines and replicas of the "Hollywood" sign and the MTV logo. Over four miles of passageways also lead to a stunning waterfall.
- Quilt Trail of Pocahontas County - 301 8th St., Marlinton, WV 24954
Throughout our country's history, quilts have often been used for both decorative and storytelling purposes. The Quilt Trail of Pocahontas County links squares with Civil War, and historical themes were chosen for the state's 2013 sesquicentennial celebration. Many squares include symbols that were used to identify stops along the Underground Railroad. The Drunkard's Path pattern represents protests during the Prohibition Era.
